Extruder Die Characteristics

The figure on the right shows the streamlines and the pressure distribution in an extruder die obtained through simulation. Here the die is modeled as an axi-symmetric tube with a conical converging section. Flow of a non-Newtonian fluid is modeled by a power-law model. The outlet is at zero reference pressure and the inlet is set at a higher pressure. The exit velocity is obtained for various inlet pressures through simulation as shown in the adjustment figure. Hence the extruder die characteristics can be obtained through simulation.

 

Based on the reference model we can change the parameters & scale or reduce it according to your requirement, to get quick results.
